School Daze

And so it begins...another school year..

Lindsay, Chris and I were on the road at 6:48 am (after a lovely breakfast, I might add!). Here are the kiddos as Chris prepares for his first day in the 4th Grade, and Lindsay prepares for her first day in 9th Grade....GASP!!!...HIGH SCHOOL!!!! Oh my goodness, how in the world is someone as YOUNG as ME able to have a child in HIGH SCHOOL?!?! Feel free to keep all those smart answers to yourselves! ;-)

And here is their wonderful reaction at the end of their 1st day of school!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Waking Livie up for her 1st day of Pre-School:
Sorry, Sophie, but you have to get up, too!
We arrive at Livie's school and this is what happens:
I asked Sophie to, "Tell your sister that she is going to be OK." Sophie's reply (after witnessing the chaos of the class and Livie's reaction: "NO WAY!" Gee, kid...thanks for the help!
Yup...priceless. This is the reaction that Livie has upon her sweet teacher trying to stick her nametag on her. Oh, boy...looks like it is going to be a fun day!
So, I leave and head back home for Sophie to take a nap. I honestly believe that after I have been gone for a little bit that Livie will settle into the *play* of the day.
I am wrong.
Livie's face as I pick her up from Pre-School. She cried the WHOLE TIME! I am not sure who I feel most sorry for: Livie or her teacher! But seriously, Livie is definitely our 'sensitive soul'. We were prepared for this type of reaction. Of course, it doesn't make it any easier to see as it pains you to see your child so upset...
Livie: safe in the car and away from Pre-School. Looks like it might be a L-O-N-G year!
Back home Livie practices balancing a slightly crushed can on her tiny nose. I suppose everyone should have a 'back up plan' just in case the whole 'school' thing doesn't pan out. ;-)
Round 2...errrrr...I mean DAY 2 begins tomorrow...and therefore I am off to bed!
Yikes! Poor Olivia! I feel bad for her. I'm sure she will adjust.
And about our kids getting old... How on earth did I have one start college this year? Scary, huh?
Gotta love the first day of school. Oh. Wait. No I don't. I'm the parent which means I'm thankful for the first day of school! ;-)
I'm amazed by the fact that Lindsay is old enough for high school. Now I feel old also! Of course the change in hair color should have alerted me to big changes. (BTW, I like the color but miss the blonde.)
Sorry to hear that Livie's day didn't go so well. When you drop her off at school next time, you may want to try my favorite trick. I leave Erin with something of mine. It's her job to watch it & return it to me when I come back for it. It's the same idea as a lovey.
Gosh Mary; I am sure it was tough to see Livie so upset. She is such a sweet soul. Boy oh boy; your Sophie is a pistol..LOL I love reading your posts. They always make me smile.
Oh and btw, if that "can balancing" thing works out for Livie maybe she would be kind eough to train as I am looking for PAID employment.
My poor sweet Livi, What a terrible day for her, but boy did she make me smile.
I remember those days with Aimee. They lasted until teh first day of KG, then she skipped into school every morning.
Let's see what next week brings for us. I am hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
I cannot believe you are old enough to have a HS student and a toddler - how did that happen? You and I are the same age, and I am SO young.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
poor Olivia-she will get the hang of it soon-
I sorry about the older children you can send them over this way I'll claim them-I don't think people will believe me though( that their mine!
I know that people don't think these kids are mine-I sorta like it but when they do something great and people say thank their Mom for me I am like I am their mom!
High School?? Oh my! Yes, how does one so young have a daughter in HS already? teehee Oh my...Olivia has the most pathetic looking face when she is sad...her little mouth turned upside down and all. It sort of took me back to her Gotcha Day....oh wait...I think her mouth was wide open...SCREAMING. heehee I hope the week became easier for Miss Olivia...and mommy too! My son never did adjust to preschool. He is my sensitive soul.
I'm told it gets better. Rachel cried the first day,the second day was worse. I actually stayed and watched her on the closed circuit t.v. from 8:30 - 12:00. It's tough seeing them so upset. I know it will get better. Love the can balancing act.
Both of your girls are adorable. I remember tears like that when my Bug was going to preschool. I assure you, it will get easier. :-)
